From your Dashboard, click the New Task button in the top-right corner. This opens the task creation form in a modal.

The title is the first thing the AI reads. Keep it concise but descriptive.

• Good: Build user authentication with email + OAuth
• Too vague: do backend stuff
• Good: Write unit tests for payment service
• Too broad: test everything

This is the most important field. The AI uses your description to understand scope, constraints, and goals. Write as if you are briefing a teammate who has never seen your project.

• What technology stack are you using?
• What already exists vs. what needs to be built?
• Are there specific requirements or acceptance criteria?
• What is out of scope?

The description field supports long-form text. More context leads to better crumbs.

The AI instructions field lets you guide the decomposition style without changing the task itself. Use it to tell the AI how to break things down:

• Break into 15-minute chunks -- for short work sessions
• I'm a beginner at React -- for more granular steps
• Focus on testing first -- to prioritize test-driven steps
• Include deployment steps -- to ensure nothing is missed

Choose Low, Medium, or High. Priority is displayed on your dashboard and used in the daily digest to help you decide what to work on first. It does not affect the AI decomposition.

Click the calendar picker to select a due date. The deadline appears on your dashboard task card and is included when you export tasks as tickets. If you do not have a hard deadline, you can leave this blank.

Click Create Task. Your task is saved to the dashboard. From here you can either decompose it with AI immediately, or come back to it later.
